FREDRIK ERICHSEN

FREDRIK ERICHSEN

VITA

Born in Bonn in 1980, grew up in Bornheim between the cities of Cologne and Bonn. Erichsen started his career with two apprenticeships (as a carpenter and painter), but this repeatedly clashed with his early passion for urban art. Initially with graffiti, later with street art. In 2007, Erichsen had the opportunity to demonstrate his craftsmanship and creativity as a stage painter at the Cologne Opera, where he still works today. At the same time, Freddy shifted his creative field from the street to his studio.

His sensitive way of perceiving his surroundings and weaving them into his artistic work allowed him to create the series of pictures “Emphasized Love”. It is a homage to the beginnings of his artistic career, his idols of the time and the architectural style of exposed concrete. The images have the grace as if they had been cut out of the metropolises of our world in order to preserve them for posterity. Similar to jars, pots and cave paintings in our museums from ages past.

As the artist says about himself, he is obsessed with creating beautiful surfaces and objects in which he can combine all his skills. At the beginning of 2019, Erichsen developed a wall sculpture in different variations with the “Concrete Smiley”. Whether as a round concrete smiley, drip, the inner core or broken. The sculpture, reminiscent of emojis, always makes the viewer smile.
